Mobile app

The dairy farm management app that works with no signal

Built for a 2GB Android phone on a bad connection, because that is what the person entering the data is actually holding.

Detail

How it works

Offline-first

Not a cached web page. The phone holds its own database and is authoritative until sync. Seven days of normal use with no connection at all.

Durable queue

Writes survive the app being killed and the phone restarting. Nothing depends on the app staying open.

Sync on 2G

Incremental and resumable. A full day of one centre's collection data syncs in under a minute on a 128 kbps link.

Conflict policy per entity

Collection records and financial transactions are append-only and never merged. Master data uses last-write-wins with an audit trail. Anything needing a human lands in a review queue.

Role-based home screens

A milker, a vet, a breeding technician and an owner open the app to four different first screens. Nobody scrolls past nine modules to reach the one they use.

Built for daylight

16sp minimum text, 48dp touch targets, high contrast. Designed to be legible in a shed at noon, not in a design review.

Urdu, RTL

Full right-to-left layout with Urdu numerals as an option.

Questions

Common questions

Is there an iOS app?

Android first — it is over 90% of the Pakistani market. iOS is on the roadmap and matters more for the Gulf.

How much storage?

Under 60MB installed for a typical herd, with images stored compressed.

What happens if two people edit the same animal offline?

Master data resolves last-write-wins with both versions in the audit log. Collection and financial records never merge — they append, so nothing is lost.
