Dairy accounting

Dairy farm accounting software

A trial balance that balances, party ledgers that reconcile, and a cost per litre you can actually put in front of a bank.

Detail

What it does

Chart of accounts

Dairy-appropriate defaults, editable per farm. Real double entry, not a categorised expense list.

Automatic posting

Costs post from the events that generate them. A treatment posts medicine cost to the animal and to expense. A feed purchase posts to inventory and payables. A milk dispatch posts to receivables. A payout run posts to supplier payables and cash.

Party ledgers

Milk suppliers, feed and medicine vendors, milk customers and employees — each with a running balance, including informal credit.

Reports

Trial balance, profit and loss, general ledger, party ledger, cash book, milk sales register, purchase register. All exporting to Excel, which is non-negotiable for accountant adoption.

Cost per litre

Every cost — feed, labour, medicine, semen, utilities, depreciation, overhead — allocated across saleable litres for the period. This is the number owners ask for and almost no dairy system computes honestly.

Assets

Fixed asset register with depreciation, including animals as biological assets.

Why this page matters more than it looks. Search data shows buyers looking hard for dairy accounting — and almost no dairy herd system ships real double-entry books. Most offer a "reports" tab and call it finance. That gap is why farms end up running the software and a spreadsheet.

Questions

Common questions

Is this a replacement for my accountant's software?

For most farms of this size, yes. For a processor running a group structure, no — we export to Tally-compatible and QuickBooks formats instead.

Does the trial balance actually balance?

Yes. It is double entry underneath, not categorised expenses with a total at the bottom.

Multi-currency?

The data model supports it. The interface is PKR, USD, INR and AED.
