Breeding & reproduction

Breeding and reproduction records

Heats, services, pregnancy checks, calvings and dry-offs — with the metrics your vet actually asks for, reported as distributions rather than flattering averages.

Detail

What it does

Events

Heat observation with detection method and observer. Service by AI or natural, with technician, straw count and cost. Pregnancy diagnosis by palpation, ultrasound or milk test. Calving with ease score, birth weight, complications and automatic calf record creation. Abortion and dry-off.

Semen inventory

Every service decrements a straw, tracked by batch, bull, supplier, tank and canister position, with cost per straw. No more counting straws in a nitrogen tank by hand.

Action lists

Generated daily — due for heat check, eligible to serve past the voluntary waiting period, due for pregnancy check, due to dry off, calving within 21 days.

Metrics

Days open, calving interval, services per conception, gestation length, conception rate at first and all services, heat detection rate, and the 21-day pregnancy rate.

Distributions, not means

Calving interval split into bands and days open into groups. A herd with a good average and a bimodal spread is a herd in trouble, and a mean hides it completely.

Timed-AI protocols

Ovsynch, Presynch and Double-Ovsynch defined as day-offset sequences. Enrol animals, auto-generate the shot list, track compliance.

Repeat breeders

Configurable flag — three or more services without conception by default.

Questions

Common questions

Do you compute 21-day pregnancy rate?

Yes, and we show it alongside % pregnant by 150 DIM, because pregnancy rate alone can be flattered by simply lengthening the voluntary waiting period.

Buffalo benchmarks?

Configurable per tenant. Cattle extension benchmarks do not transfer to buffalo, and pretending they do produces alerts nobody trusts.
